Have you heard of third places?​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​​ Third places are public spaces where people can interact and connect with their community outside of home (first place) and work (second place). ​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​​ The term was coined by sociologist Ray Oldenberg in his 1989 book The Great Good Place. ​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​​ Examples of third places include: church, coffee shops, parks, libraries, gyms and any other place where people can meet and interact.​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​​ Third places are:​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​​ Located on neutral ground​​​​​​​​ Social levellers​​​​​​​​ Accessible and accommodating​​​​​​​​ Frequented by regulars​​​​​​​​ Playful​​​​​​​​ A home away from home​​​​​​​​ Great for conversation and company​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​​ This description sums up the Tribe pretty accurately.​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​​ In fact all coworking spaces are third places.
